Battery equipment is the physical apparatus a research or pilot-line program needs to take active materials, current collectors, and electrolytes through electrode fabrication, cell build, environmental control, and validation — and the choices you make in each station compound, because a defect introduced upstream is rarely correctable downstream. This collection groups the eight equipment families that span the full battery development workflow, in roughly the order a coupon or pilot cell moves through them.
- Wet Electrode Fabrication — slurry mixers, tape casting coaters, calenders, and vacuum ovens for the solvent-cast route that still produces most lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and adjacent electrodes.
- Dry Electrode Fabrication — particle spheroidizers, dry mixers, asynchronous-speed presses, and laminators for the PTFE-fibrillated powder route that eliminates NMP recovery and enables thicker, higher-loading electrodes.
- Coin Cells — disc cutters, electrolyte pipettes, and manual / pneumatic / electric crimpers for CR20XX, CR2450, and CR3032 assembly where burr-free geometry and uniform crimp pressure decide whether your cycling data is publishable.
- Pouch Cells — slitters, sheet cutters, cup formers, Z-fold stackers, ultrasonic tab welders, heat sealers, vacuum sealers, and heat-press formation fixtures for laboratory and pilot-line pouch builds.
- Cylindrical Cells — slitting and sheeting hardware plus semi-automatic and all-tab winders for 18650, 21700, 4680, and custom cylindrical formats where jelly-roll alignment sets cycle life.
- Analyzers & Testers — cell-, module-, and pack-level cyclers, regenerative testers, constant-temperature and explosion-proof chambers, and integrated all-in-one stations for cycle-life and abuse validation.
- Controlled-Atmosphere Systems — gloveboxes for sub-ppm O2/H2O workstations and dryrooms for whole-line humidity control, the infrastructure tier that lithium-metal, sulfide solid-electrolyte, and LiPF6-based chemistries require.
- Accessories — milling jars and liners (zirconia, alumina, hardened stainless, agate), R2R unwind / rewind units, slot-die heads and adjustable doctor blades, and pouch / coin-cell fixtures with four-wire Kelvin contacts.
If you are scoping a new battery lab from scratch, walk the list top-to-bottom: pick a fabrication route (wet or dry), the cell format you intend to publish in, the analyzer tier matched to that format, and finally the controlled-atmosphere envelope your chemistry demands. For the cell-internal materials these machines process, see Cathodes, Anodes, and Separators; for the broader catalog, see Energy Storage.
