Dry-electrode fabrication replaces solvent-cast slurry with a PTFE-fibrillated powder route, eliminating NMP recovery and oven drying while opening the door to thicker, higher-loading electrodes for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and solid-state cells. A working pilot line strings four equipment classes together — morphology conditioning, dry mixing with binder fibrillation, calendering with controlled shear, and lamination to a current collector — and the collections below cover each step in the order you would run them.
- Particle Spheroidizers — round irregular NCM, NCA, olivine LFP/LMFP, spinel LMO/LNMO, graphite, hard carbon, and silicon-carbon powders so they pack uniformly and shear PTFE evenly downstream. Also used to gently condition sulfide and oxide (garnet, NASICON-type) solid-electrolyte powders.
- Dry Mixers — three-dimensional shaker mixers for gentle homogenization of active material, conductive carbon, and binder; jacketed high-shear dry mixers for the PTFE-fibrillation step that turns a powder blend into a cohesive dry mass.
- Rolling Presses — asynchronous-speed hot rollers that apply nip shear to convert fibrillated powder into a free-standing film, plus cold and hot synchronous calenders for densifying the film to its target porosity.
- Laminators — heated roll-to-roll presses and soft-nip rubber-roller units that bond the free-standing electrode film onto a primer-coated aluminum or copper foil without further densification.
If you are building a dry-electrode line from scratch, work the list top to bottom — morphology first, fibrillation second, film formation third, lamination last. If you are troubleshooting an existing line (poor film continuity, fines shedding, weak peel strength), the failure usually traces upstream of where you see it.
