Electrode Additives for Col Battery Consumables

Electrode additives are the small-percent ingredients that decide whether a calendared electrode actually delivers its theoretical capacity, rate, and cycle life. This collection groups the conductive carbons, porous carbon scaffolds, hydrophobic agents, plasticizers, and sacrificial pre-lithiation salts that go into battery, supercapacitor, and gas-diffusion-layer formulations — everything that is neither the active material nor the primary binder.

Conductive additives

Conductive carbons build the electron-percolation network across active particles. We stock multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) for thick, high-loading electrodes where a robust 1D network matters more than absolute conductivity, and covalently functionalized single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) for low-loading (0.1-1 wt%) systems where dispersion and percolation threshold dominate. Both reach percolation at far lower fractions than carbon black and pair well with silicon, NCM, and high-nickel layered cathodes.

Porous carbons for supercapacitors and catalyst supports

This is the largest sub-family. Choose by what the device is being asked to do:

• Activated carbons — coconut-shell-derived activated carbons; the EDLC workhorse; balanced micropore distribution tuned to TEA+ / BF4- adsorption.
• Disordered porous carbons — amorphous, isotropic, very high SSA; the workhorse for commercial aqueous and organic-electrolyte supercapacitors.
• Hierarchical porous carbons (micro/meso variants) — combine macropore reservoirs, mesopore highways, and micropore storage sites to break the energy-power trade-off.
• High-pore-volume mesoporous carbons — host scaffolds (>1.5 cm³/g) for loading pseudocapacitive or electrocatalytic guests without clogging.
• N-doped mesoporous carbons — pyridinic and pyrrolic nitrogen sites add pseudocapacitance and ORR/OER activity on top of double-layer storage.

Functional additives

Beyond carbon, we carry additives that solve specific process or electrochemistry problems: PTFE nanopowder as the hydrophobic agent for gas diffusion layers in fuel cells and electrolyzers; non-fluorine plasticizers (electrode softening agents) that reduce calendaring cracks and mud-cracking on thick coatings; and lithium squarate (Li2C4O4), an organic sacrificial salt for cathode pre-lithiation that decomposes cleanly into CO / CO2 and Li+ with no metallic dead weight.
