The hydrophilic anion exchange dispersion (5 wt%) is designed for systems where the primary goal is moving hydroxide ions (OH-) efficiently during hydrogen production or power generation. It has Imidazolium-functionalized styrene backbone with a different copolymer ratio and functional density. The hydrophilic feature ensures that the catalyst sites in a water electrolyzer stay "wetted," which is necessary for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).
Its application fields are: (1) Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis (AEMWE): Used as the binder for non-PGM catalysts like Nickel, Iron, or Cobalt oxides. (2) Fuel Cells: Acts as the ion-conducting bridge in the cathode of an Alkaline Fuel Cell, allowing OH- to migrate from the cathode back to the anode.
