An operando XRD/XAS split cell is a multi-modal electrochemical fixture designed to provide both structural (crystalline) and electronic (atomic-scale) information about battery materials while they are cycling. Unlike Raman or optical cells, these must be transparent to high-energy X-rays and are frequently used at synchrotron beamlines or in lab-based XRD systems with specialized sources.
