PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) is the most commonly used binder in the manufacturing of commercial lithium-ion battery (LIB) electrodes, particularly for cathodes. Despite making up only a small percentage (typically 2% to 8%) of the electrode weight, its role is absolutely critical to the structural integrity and long-term performance of the battery. PVDF has the following features: (1) High Electrochemical Stability; (2) Chemical Inertness; (3) Strong Adhesion; (4) Good Thermal Stability; (5) High Solubility in NMP.
