DMC (Dimethyl Carbonate) is the most crucial solvent component in the electrolyte solution of virtually all commercial Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs). Its essential role is twofold: dissolving the lithium salt and forming the Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI).
