Li2NiO2 (LNO) is a battery pre-lithiation additive (also known as a lithium supplement agent or sacrificial lithium additive) that is a material added to an electrode during manufacturing to compensate for "irreversible lithium loss." Pre-lithiation additives provide an "extra" supply of lithium that handles this initial tax, preserving the main lithium supply for energy storage.
