A Benchtop Vertical Conical Twin-Screw Micro-Extruder represents the ultimate evolution in ultra-low-volume polymer compounding, rheological screening, and nanocomposite formulation. Building directly upon the architecture of standard benchtop conical units, a micro-extruder variant is specifically scaled down for microgram-to-gram scale sample sizes (typically 2 to 5 grams up to 15 grams max), making it an indispensable tool for advanced materials R&D, pharmaceutical hot-melt extrusion (HME), and precious additive blending.

The main technical features of twin-screw micro-extruder are: (1) Processing Batch Volume: Ultra-low capacity, ranging from 2 mL to 15 mL, designed specifically to handle scarce or expensive experimental formulations. (2) Tapered Intermeshing Screw Geometry: Conical co-rotating or counter-rotating twin screws that step down from a wider feed diameter (e.g., ~15–20 mm) to a narrow discharge tip (~5–8 mm). This geometry maintains high shear rates and intensive distributive/dispersive mixing even as the material volume compresses. (3) Vertical Architecture: Gravity-assisted vertical feed throat and vertical barrel alignment, minimizing laboratory bench footprint and ensuring smooth feeding of fine powders, flakes, or masterbatches. (4) Temperature Range: Ambient to 450°C (capable of processing high-performance engineering thermoplastics, fluoropolymers, and specialized biopolymers), governed by multi-zone PID temperature controllers. (5) Variable Speed & High Torque: Precision servo drives with robust gearboxes providing adjustable screw speeds from 1 to 250 RPM, delivering high torque output to handle viscous melts under confined clearance conditions.
