Add-Ons
An Electrolyte Injection Machine with Cycling Vacuum & Positive High-Pressure (Pressure Diffusion) is specialized production/R&D equipment designed for filling cylindrical, pouch, or prismatic supercapacitors (EDLCs, hybrid lithium-ion capacitors). Because supercapacitors feature ultra-dense, high-surface-area porous carbon electrodes (BET surface area 1500–2500 m2/g) and tightly wound separators, standard vacuum filling alone cannot fully saturate the micro- and mesopores. Alternating between deep vacuum and positive pressure accelerates electrolyte penetration.
The main workflow includes the following procedures: (1) Chamber & Cell Evacuation (Deep Vacuum): Cells are loaded into the vacuum-tight chamber (or sealed via an injection nozzle interface). System pulls a deep vacuum (typically -0.095 MPa to -0.099 MPa/< 100 Pa) to evacuate air and moisture trapped inside the dense active carbon layers and cellulose/glass-fiber separator. (2) Precision Electrolyte Dosing: High-precision valveless ceramic plunger pumps or micro-gear pumps dispense a metered volume of electrolyte (accuracy ±0.5% - 1.0%). The electrolyte—typically acetonitrile (ACN) or propylene carbonate (PC) with quaternary ammonium salts like TEABF4—is injected under partial vacuum to prevent splashing or solvent flash-evaporation. (3) Cyclic Vacuum & Inert High-Pressure Pulsing (Diffusion): The machine alternates repeatedly between deep vacuum and positive pressure (0.2 MPa - 0.5 MPa of dry Ar gas). Vacuum removes micro-bubbles (N2/O2) blocking capillary channels, while positive high pressure physically forces the viscous electrolyte into the tortuous nanometer-scale pores of the activated carbon matrices. (4) Standing / Soaking Phase: Cells undergo a holding/standing period under regulated pressure or light vacuum to ensure complete wetting before sealing.
