For precise electrode disc preparation, the choice between a manual punch and an automated cutter depends on your throughput and the physical properties of your coated "tapes." For coin cell assembly (CR2016, CR2025, CR2032), the edges must be perfectly burr-free to prevent internal short circuits.

For the manual disk electrode cutter, which uses a spring-loaded plunger and a hardened steel die to "punch" the disc out of the foil. The standard diameters are normally 12, 15, 16, 18, 19, and 20 mm dies. Typically, the cathode is cut to 14–15 mm and the anode to 15–16 mm to ensure complete coverage and account for slight misalignment during assembly. Compact to pneumatic or electric one, it can be transferred to the glovebox antechamber and no power is required for operation.

  • The alignment for pushing rod and bottom plate is critical. Normally the bottom plate should be loose until the pushing rod constantly goes through the hole smoothly.
