HTCN (1,3,6-Hexanetricarbonitrile) is a highly effective, multi-functional nitrile-based electrolyte additive used primarily in high-voltage lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and lithium metal batteries (LMBs). Its unique structure, featuring three cyano (-CN) groups, allows it to decompose preferentially on both the cathode and anode surfaces, forming protective interphase films that dramatically enhance cycling stability and rate capability.
