Succinic Anhydride (SA) is widely used in battery research as an electrolyte additive (typically 1 wt% to 10 wt%) in both lithium-ion (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Its primary function is to react preferentially at the electrode surfaces to form a stable, protective interfacial layer, which significantly improves battery performance, cycle life, and stability, especially for next-generation electrode materials.
