TG (Tragacanth Gum) is a complex natural polymer with two main fractions: (1) Tragacanthin: A highly water-soluble fraction and (2) Bassorin: A water-insoluble fraction that swells to form a gel. TG is rich in hydroxyl (-OH) groups and carboxylic acid (-COOH) groups. These polar functional groups enable the formation of strong hydrogen bonds with the active material and conductive carbon surfaces, providing the necessary cohesive and adhesive forces for electrode integrity. It can improve electrode porosity and kinetics, as well as being suitable for high-voltage cathodes.
