Add-Ons
DEF (N,N-Diethylformamide, C5H11N) is a polar, high-boiling-point organic compound occasionally evaluated in specialized electrochemical research and polymer electrolyte processing (such as dissolving polyacrylonitrile or preparing specialized gel/solid polymer matrices and polyMOFs). When considered as a co-solvent or processing medium in advanced battery configurations, it exhibits distinct solvent and electrochemical behaviors: (1) High Dielectric Constant & Solvation Power: As a dialkylformamide, DEF is strongly polar with a high donor number, making it exceptionally effective at dissolving various lithium/sodium salts, coordination polymers, and binder systems (such as polyvinylidene fluoride or polyacrylonitrile derivatives). (2) High Boiling Point & Thermal Stability: With a boiling point significantly higher than standard linear or cyclic carbonate solvents (like DEC or DMC), it possesses low volatility under ambient pressure conditions.
