EMC (Ethyl Methyl Carbonate) is a linear carbonate co-solvent and is one of the most commonly used components in the electrolyte solution of commercial Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs).3 Its essential role is twofold: dissolving the lithium salt and forming the Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI). EMC is blended with the cyclic carbonate Ethylene Carbonate (EC) and other linear carbonates to optimize the electrolyte's performance across several parameters
