PVA {Poly(vinyl alcohol)} is a synthetic, water-soluble polymer that has attracted significant attention as a host material for solid-state electrolytes (SPEs), particularly in the development of Gel Polymer Electrolytes (GPEs) and aqueous-based systems. PVA is especially favored in non-lithium applications like supercapacitors, Zn-air, and Na-ion batteries due to its high OH- (hydroxide ion) or proton-conducting ability when doped with alkaline or acidic salts.
