Swagelok cell testing is a specialized laboratory technique used to evaluate battery materials (anodes, cathodes, and electrolytes) in a controlled, air-tight environment.
By introducing a third "reference electrode" (RE), researchers can measure the potential of the working electrode (WE) and counter electrode (CE) independently, which is impossible in a standard two-electrode setup.
