Carbon paper with gas diffusion layer (specifically the SGL 28BC) serves as a critical bridge between the macroscopic hardware (bipolar plates/current collectors) and the microscopic reaction sites (catalyst layers). Both the microporous layer (MPL) and PTFE layer are coated on the surface of carbon paper, which provides excellent gas diffusion capability without "flooding" issue.
