In fundamental electrochemistry, the Reference Electrode (RE) is the "voltage ruler" of your system. Its primary role is to provide a stable, constant electrochemical potential against which the Working Electrode (WE) is measured, without drawing significant current itself.

The selection guidance for the reference electrode in various electrochemical system, the following chart can be used as reference:

Reference Electrode Types

    (1) Ag/AgCl Electrode (φ 6mm * L 75 mm), 3.5 M KCl, suitable for neutral electrolyte under high temperature condition

    (2) Saturated Ag/AgCl Electrode (φ 6mm * L 65 mm), suitable for regular neutral electrolyte conditions

    (3) Ag/Ag+ Electrode (φ 6mm * L 65 mm), suitable for non-aqueous electrolyte condition

    (4) Saturated Calomel Electrode (SCE, φ 6mm * L 65 mm), suitable for regular neutral electrolytes.

    (5) Hg/Hg2SO4 Electrode (φ 6mm * L 65 mm), suitable for acidic electrolyte.

    (6) Hg/HgO Electrode (φ 6mm * L 65 mm), suitable for alkaline electrolyte.
