In electrochemical research, a Working Electrode (WE) holder is the critical interface that provides a secure mechanical grip and a reliable electrical connection to your sample. Because the WE is where the specific reaction of interest occurs, the holder must ensure that only the intended surface area is exposed to the electrolyte while protecting the electrical contacts from corrosion.

To maintain high-purity conditions, the holder must be as inert as the electrode itself: (1) Body: Usually PTFE (Teflon), PEEK, or Kel-F. These materials resist aggressive acids/bases and organic solvents. (2) Contacts: High-quality holders use Gold-plated pins or Platinum wires to minimize contact resistance and prevent galvanic corrosion at the connection point. (3) Seals: Viton or EPDM O-rings are standard for aqueous work, while Chemraz/Kalrez is used for the organic-compatible testing mentioned in your previous inquiries.
