A LiFePO4 (LFP) Double-Side High-Loading Dry Electrode (~ 70 mg/cm2 total; ~35 mg/cm2 per side) is an ultra-thick, solvent-free cathode configuration engineered for high-energy-density stationary storage, commercial EV prismatic cells, and high-capacity pouch formats. While conventional wet-slurry casting struggles to process thicknesses above 15-20 mg/cm2 due to binder migration, severe mud-cracking, and long drying times, solvent-free dry powder processing overcomes these bottlenecks to form highly cohesive thick electrodes.

The main advantages of dry-process high-loading LFP (~70 mg/cm2) are: (1) Elimination of Binder Segregation: Because no liquid solvent is used, the PTFE binder remains uniformly distributed throughout the 70 mg/cm2 cross-section without vertical migration during drying, preventing insulating skin layers. (2) Enhanced Ion Transport Kinetics: Despite the extreme thickness, dry-processed LFP films maintain a uniform pore-size distribution and lower tortuosity compared to wet-cast equivalents, facilitating efficient lithium-ion diffusion (Li+) across the bulk matrix. (3) Massive Cost and Energy Savings: Bypassing thermal NMP recovery ovens drastically reduces manufacturing footprints and capital expenditure, driving cell production costs down.
