The LiFTFSI (Lithium (Fluorosulfonyl)(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide) salt, is a next-generation electrolyte salt that is rapidly gaining prominence in high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). It is often considered the most promising candidate to supplement or eventually replace the conventional LiPF6.
LiFTFSI provides several significant improvements over the standard LiPF6, such as (1) Superior Ionic Conductivity; (2) High Thermal Stability; (3) Enhanced Hydrolysis Resistance; (4) Compatibility with Li Metal.
