The LATP {Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3} and PMMA coated PE separator is a highly advanced, multi-functional membrane used in next-generation lithium-ion and semi-solid-state batteries. (1) PE substrate (safety fuse): Provides the standard thermal shutdown capability, melting at ~135°C to stop the battery if it overheats. (2) LATP Ceramic {(Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3} is an active solid electrolyte. It allows lithium ions to flow through the coating itself, reducing internal resistance and enabling faster charging. (3) PMMA (Poly-methyl methacrylate) acts as the binder. It is highly polar, which means it has a massive "affinity" for liquid electrolytes. It swells slightly when soaked, turning the coating into a gel-like ion conductor that bonds tightly to the electrodes.
