In solid-state battery (SSB) research, maintaining a specific stack pressure (typically between 0.1 MPa and 50 MPa) is critical because the lack of a liquid electrolyte means the interface between the solid electrolyte and the electrodes can easily lose contact as the battery expands and contracts. A pressure sensor kit for this application typically consists of a specialized test cell, a high-precision force sensor, and a data acquisition (DAQ) unit to track pressure changes in real-time (operando). The pressure sensor kit can measure the pressure spike during charging. As Lithium atoms plate onto the anode, the volume increases; if the cell is rigid, the pressure will skyrocket. This data is used to calculate the Young's Modulus and structural health of the solid electrolyte.
