Add-Ons
Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) powder is an increasingly prominent functional polymer used in advanced Gel Polymer Electrolytes (GPEs) and Solid-State Polymer Electrolytes (SSPEs). Characterized by its pendant epoxy (-C2H3O) groups attached to a polymethacrylate backbone, PGMA provides a versatile platform for chemical cross-linking, thermal/UV curing, and structural blending with high-conductivity host matrices like PEO or PVDF-HFP.
The critical features of PGMA are: (1) Chemical Structure: Backbone of poly(methyl methacrylate) with pendant reactive oxirane (epoxy) rings. (2) Molecular Weight (M_w): Typically ranging from 50,000 to 300,000 g/mol (controlled grade selection dictates mechanical strength vs. solution viscosity). (3) Glass Transition Temperature (T_g): Generally around 60°C to 85°C, depending on tacticity and molecular weight. (4) Epoxy Equivalent Weight (EEW): High density of reactive sites, ensuring efficient network formation upon cross-linking. (5) Solubility: Readily soluble in polar aprotic solvents such as N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), acetone, tetrahydrofuran (THF), and dimethylformamide (DMF), facilitating straightforward solvent-casting or slurry-coating processes.
