A Tapping & Oscillation Sieving Machine (commonly known as a Tapping Sieve Shaker) is a specialized laboratory instrument designed to mimic the manual sieving action of a human operator, but with significantly higher force and consistency.
The machine operates using two distinct, simultaneous mechanical actions: (1) Horizontal Oscillation: The sieve stack moves back and forth in a plane. This spreads the material evenly across the mesh surface and ensures that every particle has multiple opportunities to find an open sieve hole. (2) Vertical Tapping: A mechanical hammer (or "knocker") strikes the top of the sieve stack at a fixed frequency. This intense vertical impact breaks the Van der Waals forces and electrostatic bonds that cause fine powders to stick to the wire or to each other.
