A High-Temperature Battery Nail Penetration Tester combines mechanical abuse testing with environmental conditioning. While standard nail penetration is often performed at room temperature, testing at elevated temperatures (e.g., 55°C to 150°C) represents a "worst-case" scenario, as the thermal stability of the separator and electrolyte is already compromised before the short circuit occurs.
Unlike standard testers, high-temperature units must integrate a thermal chamber with a high-force linear actuator while maintaining a gas-tight seal. (1) Integrated Thermal Chamber: Features a reinforced, insulated inner liner (often SUS304 stainless steel) capable of maintaining uniform temperatures, typically up to 200°C. (2) Actuator Thermal Isolation: The drive motor and hydraulic/servo components are usually mounted outside the chamber, using a specialized heat-resistant "push-rod" to drive the nail through the chamber wall. (3) Precision Needle Control: Uses servo-electric motors to achieve consistent penetration speeds, even as low as 0.01 mm/s, which is critical for observing the exact moment of thermal runaway.
