A Hybrid Microwave Muffle/Tube Furnace (1000°C) is a cutting-edge thermal processing system that integrates conventional resistance heating (coils) with microwave energy. It overcomes the "Transparency" problem of microwaves at low temperatures by using resistance coils to pre-heat materials until they become microwave-absorbent, at which point microwave energy provides ultra-fast, volumetric heating to the core.
Traditional microwave-only furnaces often struggle with materials that have low dielectric loss at room temperature. The Hybrid system solves this through a dual-action mechanism: (1) Resistance Heating (Surface-In): Provides stable, uniform background heating to the chamber. It acts as the "starter" to bring the sample to its "coupling temperature." (2) Microwave Heating (Core-Out): Once the material begins to absorb microwaves, energy is delivered directly to the molecular level. This results in "Inverse Temperature Gradients," where the core of the sample can be slightly hotter than the surface, promoting perfect densification.
