For pouch cell fabrication, vacuum sealers are specialized pieces of equipment used after electrolyte injection to ensure an air-free environment and prevent leakage. The standard feature of vacuum sealer are shown below: (1) Vacuum Standing (Diffusion): This feature allows the cell to sit under vacuum before sealing. This "standing" time is critical to force the electrolyte to thoroughly saturate (wet) the electrode pores and separator. (2) Adjustable Pump-Down Rate: If the vacuum is pulled too quickly, the electrolyte can boil or be sucked out of the pouch (spillage). High-end units have electronic regulators to control this rate. (3) Vacuum Level: Look for units capable of reaching -95 kPa to -99 kPa (or ~10 Torr) to ensure no moisture or air pockets remain, which would otherwise cause swelling during cycling.

Part Number
  • ESMPCMVS (ESM-PC-MVS)
Power
  • AC110V or 220V±10%, single phase, 50/60Hz, 700 W

Sealing Features

  • Sealing Length: Max. 180 mm (Max. cell size: 180mm*160mm)
  • Sealing Width: 4.0 mm (customized width can be up to 10 mm)
  • The upper sealing blade is covered a soft rubber layer, that is designed for top side sealing on tab with polymer adhesive.
  • Sealing Pressure: ~7 kgf/cm2 (~100 psi) (~0.04 L gas will be consumed for each sealing)
  • The maximum heating temperature is 250°C. Normally the recommended sealing temperature for upper and bottom sealing blades is 200 and 180 °C.
  • The multifunctional sealing includes top/side sealing, vacuum standing, vacuum sealing, and gas purge (solid-state battery) functions.
Vacuum Level
  • Vacuum Level for Standing/Sealing: Max. -95 kPa
  • Vacuum Standing Time: 0-900 s
  • Vacuum Standing/Sealing Time: 0-90 s
Glovebox Operation Compatibility
  • The KF40 feedthrough with gas tubing and power cable is included to connect the outside vacuum pump and gas pressure tank.
  • The medium-size vacuum sealer is glovebox compatible.
Vacuum Pump (Optional)
  • A vacuum pump (EDSRVVP) is required to provide high vacuum for standing and sealing.

Gas Pressure Source (Optional)
  • For the vacuum sealer placed inside glovebox, an Ar gas tank (60-80 psi) is required to connect with sealer through KF40 feedthrough.
  • When the vacuum sealer is placed inside a dryroom, then a gas compressor (EUQOFGC) can be considered.
