For high-viscosity laboratory slurries, a three-shaft or dual-shaft vacuum mixer is the standard for achieving a truly homogeneous, bubble-free dispersion. These systems combine low-speed "folding" of the bulk material with high-speed "shearing" to break down microscopic agglomerates.
The key selection criteria of an appropriate slurry mixer: (1) Mixing Speed: The unit offers at least 600–1400 RPM if you are working with high-viscosity slurries or difficult-to-disperse binders like PVDF or CMC/SBR. (2) Vacuum Level: To effectively eliminate bubbles, the mixer should maintain a vacuum of at least -0.098 MPa for the duration of the cycle. (3) Temperature Control: High-speed mixing can generate significant heat. Units with water-cooled jackets help prevent the degradation of temperature-sensitive binders
