Bamboo-derived hard carbon powder is a sustainable, high-performance non-graphitizable carbon anode material engineered for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Leveraging the natural hierarchical porous structure and high lignin/cellulose content of bamboo precursors, optimized pyrolysis yields a turbostratic carbon architecture that delivers a high reversible capacity of approximately 350 mAh/g with excellent cycling stability.
Its main features are: (1) Microstructure: Characterized by expanded interlayer spacing (d_{002} values ranging from 0.38 nm to 0.40 nm) and a high fraction of disordered graphene sheets combined with closed nanopores, facilitating both intercalation and pore-filling sodium storage mechanisms. (2) Voltage Profile: Exhibits a sloping voltage region above 0.1 V (associated with adsorption on defect sites and intercalation into graphene layers) followed by a long, low-potential plateau near 0.0 to 0.1 V vs. Na/Na+ (attributed to sodium cluster insertion into closed nanopores). (3) Initial Coulombic Efficiency (ICE): Typically ranges from 85% to 90%, optimized through pore-blocking mitigation and surface oxygen functional group reduction during high-temperature carbonization.
Notes: (1) Please store the hard carbon powder in a dry area (glovebox is preferred); (2) The battery powder is highly recommended to be dried at 80-100°C in a vacuum oven for 6-12 h before use.
