The Sodium Manganese Oxide (Na0.44MnO2) a highly promising and widely studied cathode material for Sodium-ion Batteries (SIBs). Na0.44MnO2 has a three-dimensional (3D) tunnel structure that is composed of chains of edge-sharing manganese-oxygen octahedra (MnO6) that are linked together to create large, permanent tunnels running throughout the material. The Na+ ions reside within these tunnels, and their transport occurs through these fixed, pre-existing channels. This structure is particularly advantageous because the tunnels are large enough to accommodate the larger size of the Na+ ion compared to Li+.
