An immersion cell (batch beaker cell) suspends a screen-printed electrode (SPE) vertically into a stirred or deaerated bulk electrolyte solution, bridging the gap between planar disposable sensors and traditional classical electrochemistry.

The main components of an immersion electrochemical cell for SPEs testing: (1) Cell Body / Vial: Standard glass or PTFE vial, typically sized for 2 mL to 20 mL of working volume. (2) Cap / Edge-Connector Rig: A machined PEEK, PTFE, or Delrin lid with an integrated 2.54 mm edge-connector socket or gold-plated spring clips to grip the SPE contact pads while keeping them elevated above the liquid line. (3) Auxiliary Ports: Ports machined through the cell cap to accommodate: An inert gas purge line (N2 or Ar) for dissolved oxygen removal, plus an exhaust bubbler. An injection port for standard-addition titrations. An optional external reference electrode bridge (e.g., Luggin capillary or double-junction Ag/AgCl). (4) Agitation Mechanism: Flat-bottomed vial designed to sit on a magnetic stir plate with a micro stir-bar for mass-transport-controlled hydrodynamic voltammetry.
