Add-Ons
A ring-type dry pellet pressing die (often used for XRF sample preparation, spectroscopy, battery research, and powder metallurgy) is designed to press loose powders into robust, self-supporting pellet discs encased in a protective outer ring (such as aluminum, steel, or plastic rings). Unlike standard solid dies where the sample must be ejected as a freestanding disc, a ring die allows the powder to be compacted directly inside the supporting sleeve. This prevents fragile green-state compacts from cracking during extraction or handling.
The main components of the ring-type dry pellet pressing die are: (1) Outer Sleeve / Protective Ring: An aluminum, steel, or plastic ring loaded into the die cavity prior to adding the sample. (2) Die Body (Cylinder): High-hardness alloy steel (e.g., Cr12MoV, Cr12 steel, or tungsten carbide lining) built to handle pressures typically between 10 to 40 tons (or up to 1000+ MPa). (3) Top & Bottom Anvils (Pistons): Precision-ground punches that transmit hydraulic force to condense the powder into the ring. (4) Ejection Base / Support Ring: Assists in safely pushing the combined ring-and-pellet assembly out after pressing.
