Add-Ons
An Electric Hydraulic Pellet Press represents the industrial and high-capacity tier of laboratory sample preparation hardware. While manual hydraulic presses require physical pumping, and oilless electric presses typically max out around 5 to 10 metric tons, electric hydraulic presses combine an automated electric motor drive with a high-pressure hydraulic fluid pump. This configuration allows them to easily deliver massive, highly stable compaction forces—frequently ranging from 15 to 60+ metric tons—making them the standard workhorses for XRF (X-ray Fluorescence), FTIR spectroscopy, and high-density technical ceramic manufacturing.
Instead of manually manipulating a lever to actuate a hydraulic piston, an automated system orchestrates the force electronically: (1) Digital Target Programming: The user inputs the desired force (e.g., 40 Metric Tons) and a specific dwell time on a touchscreen or digital pad. (2) Automated Pressurization: The electric motor engages the internal fluid pump, driving hydraulic oil into the primary piston cylinder. The compression ram rises smoothly, applying force to the pellet die set. (3) Active Load Monitoring: An internal digital pressure transducer continuously monitors the load. If the powder compresses and settles (causing a minor drop in pressure), the electric pump automatically fires for a micro-second to top off the hydraulic pressure, maintaining a perfectly flat force plateau during the programmed hold cycle. (4) Auto-Release & Return: Once the timer counts down, a solenoid release valve snaps open, dumping the hydraulic fluid back into the reservoir and retracting the ram automatically so the operator can extract the sample.
