A heating round dry pellet pressing die (or heated pellet die set) combines mechanical compaction with simultaneous thermal energy (hot pressing). By elevating temperature during dry powder compaction, materials undergo plastic deformation, grain boundary diffusion, or polymer softening at dramatically lower pressures than cold pressing requires.

Heated dies generally use one of two thermal configurations: (1) Band/Jacket Heated Dies: Electric resistance heating bands wrap around the exterior stainless steel or high-temp alloy sleeve. Standard operating temperatures typically range from ambient up to 250ºC-300ºC (or 500ºC with heavy-duty ceramic band heaters). (2) Cartridge Heated Dies: Precision electric heater rods slide directly into machined blind holes inside the die body, controlled by a digital PID temperature controller and K-type thermocouple for accurate thermal feedback.
