A Roll-to-Roll (R2R) Electrode & Foil Slitter is a high-precision industrial machine used to divide a wide mother roll of coated electrode or raw metal foil into several narrower rolls (strips).

The method of slitting depends on the material's hardness, thickness, and fragility. The Circular Knife Slitting (Shear Cut) is the most common slitting that uses overlapping upper and lower circular blades (like scissors). It is best for metallic foils (Cu/Al) and standard battery electrodes. The main advantage is minimal burr formation to reduce the possibility of internal shorts.
