In the fabrication of dry battery electrodes—where active materials, conductive agents, and PTFE binders are "fibrillated" without the use of NMP solvent. The Roll-to-Roll (R2R) Hot Rolling Press is the equipment that bridges the gap between raw powder and a functional, commercial-grade electrode. The hot rolling in a dry process serves as the primary film-forming and lamination engine.
A complete R2R dry processing line typically utilizes the hot rolling press in two distinct stages: (1) The fibrillated "battery dough" from your high-speed dry mixer is fed into the heated nip of the press. (2) In the second pass, the free-standing film is paired with a current collector (aluminum or copper foil) that has been pre-coated with a thin conductive primer.

Dry electrode fabrication processes:
The active material (eg: graphite, LFP, NMC) is mixed with conductive carbon at medium level speed, and then add the PTFE into the mixture and mix it at a low speed (Temperature=10-15℃). A high-speed mixing was conducted in a short time to generate partially PTFE fibrillation. The large agglomerates were removed with a 30 mesh filter.
Place the powder mixture into the feeding hopper. The three rollers with gradient gap/pressure will from the self-standing dry film. A cutter is designed to cut the film edge.
The thin self-standing dry film can be further laminated (same speed) with carbon-coated foil (eg: CBACCCCFR, CBCCCCAFR) to form the complete dry battery electrode. |
