For laboratory pouch cell assembly, a heat sealer (also known as a compact pouch sealer) is used to create the final hermetic seals on the top and sides of the Aluminum Laminated Film (ALF). This process requires precise control over temperature, pressure, and sealing time to melt the internal polypropylene (PP) layer of the film without damaging the metal tabs or causing "electrolyte leakage" paths.

Top Sealing (Tab Sealing): This is the critical failure point. The sealer must bond the ALF to the tab sealant (the small strip of plastic pre-attached to your Al/Cu tabs). Always use a soft-face (silicone) bottom blade for top sealing to "wrap" the film around the square edges of the tabs.

Side Sealing: Usually involves two layers of ALF (Polypropylene to Polypropylene). This is the easiest seal to achieve and can be done at a slightly lower temperature.

Part Number
  • ESMPCTSSHS (ESM-PCTSS-HS)
Power
  • AC110V or 220V±10%, single phase, 50/60Hz, 900 W
Sealing Features
  • Sealing Length: Max. 190 mm
  • Sealing Width: 3.2 mm (customized width can be up to 8 mm)
  • The upper sealing blade is covered a soft rubber layer, that is designed for top side sealing on tab with polymer adhesive.
  • If the stacking cell layers are over 50 layers (total tab thickness>5 mm, then the hard sealing with slotting should be adopted)
  • The maximum heating temperature is 250°C. Normally the recommended sealing temperature for upper and bottom sealing blades is 200 and 180 °C.
  • Heating duration is adjustable in 0-99 seconds.
Cell Fixture
  • The cell fixture is designed to fix the pouch cell for stable sealing.
  • The bar inside the cell fixture can be adjustable to match with various pouch cell sizes.

Gas Compressor
  • A gas compressor (EUQOFGC) or a gas tank is required to provide 80-110 psi to support the pneumatic operation.
