A Roll-to-Sheet Electrode and Foil Cutter is a precision machine that automates the transition from continuous rolls of coated electrodes or raw metal foils into individual sheets of exact dimensions. In battery manufacturing and advanced R&D, this step is critical because any edge defects—such as burrs, waves, or metallic dust—can lead to internal short circuits or non-uniform current distribution in the final cell.

The machine typically consists of three synchronized systems: (1) Unwinding Stand: Holds the roll of "green" tape (e.g., YSZ slurry on PET carrier) or metal foil. (2) Traction & Feeding: Stepper or servo motors pull the material through the cutting zone. High-end benchtop units use rubber-coated rollers to prevent scratching delicate active layers like SPAN. (3) Cutting Action: Guillotine Blade: Moves vertically for a clean, perpendicular cut. Best for thicker ceramic green tapes.
