For high-precision laboratory coating, a slot-die coater paired with a heated vacuum bed offers the most advanced control over film uniformity and drying kinetics. Unlike a doctor blade, a slot-die head is a closed system, which prevents solvent evaporation during the process and allows for a "pre-metered" coating where the thickness is determined by the pump's flow rate rather than a mechanical gap.

The key advantages for slot die coating: (1) Zero-Waste Coating: The closed-head design of a slot-die ensures that almost 100% of your slurry is deposited onto the substrate, which is vital when working with expensive materials like specialized catalysts or solid-state electrolytes. (2) Precision Drying: The vacuum bed prevents the substrate from warping under the heat of the IR or convection dryer, maintaining a perfectly flat plane for the slot-die head to glide over (typically at a height of 10-100µm). (3) Scalability: Because slot-die coating is a flow-rate-dependent process, the parameters you develop on these lab-scale heated beds can be directly translated to industrial production lines.

Slot Die Head

  • A slot die head with a 200 mm width is included
  • Four pieces of shims, such as 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 mm are included
  • The coating width within 200 mm can be realized by customized the opening mouth of the shims. 
  • Inside channel volume is around 8.0 mL
  • The gap between the slot die tip and vacuum bed can be adjusted in 0-5 mm by rotating the digital gauges (resolution:1 um)
Slurry Feeding Pump
  • One 60 mL stainless steel syringe with a plastic plunger is included., which can be mounted at the side. 

           

  • Slurry feeding speed: 0.1-1.5 mm/s 
Vacuum Pump
  • A small vacuum pump is built-in for sucking the coating substrates 
Upgrade Version (Optional)
  • For melting-slot die extrusion process, such as polymer-based solid-state electrolyte, the feed syringe and slot die head with heating jacket (100 ℃) can be supplied.
