Tape Casting Coaters for Col Wet Electrode Fabrication

Tape casting decides whether your slurry becomes a uniform, crack-free electrode or a scrap-bound test of patience. The coaters in this collection cover the full lab-to-pilot range for wet-electrode fabrication, fuel-cell membrane casting, and ceramic green-tape work, with bench tape casters for single-coupon R&D and roll-to-roll lines for continuous web processing.

Bench tape casters (doctor blade)

Single-stroke coaters built around a precision-machined vacuum bed and a micrometer-adjusted blade. The vacuum chuck holds copper, aluminum, and polymer foils flat through the casting stroke so wet-thickness stays consistent end-to-end — essential when you are screening NMP-based cathode slurries, aqueous anode slurries, or solvent-cast PVDF and PFSA ionomer films. Heating options determine drying behavior:

• Bottom heating only — gentle, conduction-driven drying suited to thin coatings and ceramic tapes that are prone to edge curl.
• Top + bottom heating — symmetric drying for thicker electrode films where you want to limit through-thickness binder migration.
• Infrared heating cover — fast surface drying for thick electrodes and ceramic green tapes; the trade-off is a higher risk of skin formation if the IR power and stroke speed are not matched to the slurry.

Multifunctional bench coaters

Two- and three-head benches that combine doctor blade with wire-rod (Mayer rod) and, on some units, slot-die heads on a shared vacuum bed. Wire rod is the practical choice for low-viscosity functional layers — ceramic-coated separator washes, primer coatings on current collectors, and thin ionomer overlays — while doctor blade handles high-solids electrode slurries on the same machine.

Roll-to-roll coaters

Continuous web platforms with interchangeable coating heads. Slot-die is the standard for precision battery electrodes because metered delivery limits NMP evaporation at the head; comma / reverse-comma heads handle high-viscosity pastes; micro-gravure deposits very thin functional layers such as ceramic separator coatings and ionomer overcoats. R2R dip coating is included for applications where simultaneous double-sided wetting is required, such as separator functionalization and ion-exchange membrane impregnation. Web widths in this collection span from 160 mm lab lines to 360 mm pilot-scale systems.
