A Handheld Four-Probe Resistivity Tester for Conductive Slurries (such as battery cathode/anode slurries, conductive inks, carbon paste, or conductive polymer suspensions) is an instrument used to measure liquid/wet-state electronic conductivity before coating and drying. While standard four-point probes measure solid thin films, slurry-specific handheld four-probe systems feature specialized immersible cup probes or dip-probe heads designed to prevent short-circuiting through liquid media while isolating contact resistance.

In a liquid conductive slurry, traditional 2-point conductivity probes suffer from severe electrochemical polarization, bubble formation, and slurry adhesion at the electrode interface. A liquid four-probe system overcomes this using a controlled geometry cell or aligned probe pins: (1) Outer Probes (Current Drive): A controlled AC or reversed DC current (I) passes through the slurry solution between the outer contacts. (2) Inner Probes (Voltage Sense): The high-impedance voltage sense probes measure the potential drop across a known liquid cross-sectional volume.

The main applications examples are: (1) Lithium-Ion Battery Slurries (NMC/LFP/Graphite): Measures the formation of the carbon black/CNT conductive network inside the solvent (NMP or Water). Detects under-mixing (broken conductive pathways) or over-mixing (shear damage to CNTs/polymers). (2) Conductive Inks & Screen-Printing Pastes: Checks batch-to-batch consistency for printed electronics, flexible sensors, and solar cell metallization pastes. (3) Conductive Polymers & Hydrogels: Evaluates PEDOT:PSS, MXene, or graphene dispersions prior to processing.
