An Automatic (or Semi-Automatic) Swing-Arm Screen Printing Coater is a classic workhorse in electrochemical labs and pilot lines. It bridges the gap between manual prototyping and full-scale production, offering the precision required for SOFC/SOEC planar cells and advanced battery electrodes (like SPAN cathodes). The "swing-arm" refers to the printing head or frame holder that pivots upward at an angle. This design is preferred for R&D because it provides easy access to the substrate and the screen for cleaning and alignment between runs.

The key features of the semi-automatic swing-arm screen printer are shown below: (1) Swing-Arm Movement: The screen frame rotates upward (typically 45° to 60°). This is a massive ergonomics advantage when you need to frequently wipe the screen to prevent high-viscosity YSZ/GDC slurries from drying in the mesh. (2) Motorized Squeegee & Flood Bar: Unlike manual units, the printing stroke is driven by a precision motor (often a frequency-controlled or servo motor). This ensures that the speed and pressure are identical for every single cell, which is the only way to achieve repeatable layer thickness. (3) Automatic Flood Cycle: The machine automatically "floods" the screen with slurry after each print. This keeps the mesh wet, preventing the solvent (like Terpineol) from evaporating and clogging the screen.
